Reading through various job postings, I noticed employers asking for mac and osx trouble shooting skills so I bit the bullet and picked up a used 2009 MBP
It's been about a week & I know my way around it somewhat
Any guides out that on what I should know off the back? Or what I should learn about OSX?

Welcome to the world of OSX. There's a thread in the Apple forums about getting their certs. I know they have a basic one you can take online for 65.00, its about OSX and Windows AD. There is also a more advanced cert as well, and PeachPit Publishing has the guide for that. Even if you don't do the cert, reading the book can't hurt.
Book I recently picked up since I am relatively new as well is OSX Mavericks Portable Genius. Easy read.
