Getting back into it after a long break.

Hi guys,
I passed my CCENT (old version) around august last year.
Ive had a bit of time off from studying and tried to get back into it and finish off my CCNA last week, but I am struggling with the ICND 2.
Any advice about getting back into it after a break?
I have the Llammle CCNA (new version) and a few different video series' covering the new syllabus.

Same thing happened to me. I passed the old CCENT early July and took a break before I finished the new ICND2.

You most likely just have to go over all the material in the new ICND1 that you missed. ACLS, VLANs, OSPF, IPv6.. there's plenty that is in the new ICND1 that you'll need to know going into the ICND2.

Luckily, there are a few topics in the old ICND1 that got pushed onto the new ICND2, such as Boot process, file management, and HDLC vs PPP. Those few topics should be extremely easy coming into them the 2nd time.

It was time consuming, but I had the Odom library and read both books, cover-to-cover, while preparing for the new ICND2.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

If your not really working with Cisco right now then I would spend some time reviewing the current ICND1 first. Even if it's just videos.

I have not tested yet but I am working on the ICND2 material and a lot of it overlaps with ICND1. If you have the time I think it will flow better if you spend a couple weeks on review then jump into your preferred study habit.

    Good Luck!

I'm kind of in the same boat also, but my ENT expired at the end of last month. I'm going to re-acquire my ENT, then grab my NA, without taking a three year break this time. icon_lol.gif

Sorry for the late reply guys.
Turns out I have got a job I have been hoping to go through for about 3 months. So it'll probably be a little while longericon_lol.gif
