Taking a .50 cent paycut a few years back to get some linux experience was the best move I ever made. I was being paid pennies back then, my wife was worried about moving to a nearby city outside of Tampa and her mom was trying to tell me that I shouldn't ever move for a job because it isn't stable. They didn't know that I was making chess moves. I don't know how long it's been since I've actually been turned down for a job and I've been offered two linux admin jobs as of last Friday both willing to give me at least a 10k bump in pay from my current position.
