Ok so I want to zip folders from the command line without any 3rd party software or installs needed. Yes I have already googled it and everyone one says use 7zip or winrar which I dont want to use. I need it to be built in to windows. Also I have seen some that mention powershell scripts but I cannot do anything in powershell. (to confusing) Is there some way to do this from a batch script? Has anyone heard of this being done?
Thanks for the help.

Download details: Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools
I looked at compress and saw that it required the download of the resource kit otherwise I would. -
Optionstiersten Member Posts: 4,505There isn't a built in CLI accessible ZIP utility in Windows. You either install something or you have Powershell do it. You're already going to be copying in your scripts so why can't you just copy a small command line ZIP utility at the same time?

Just use the one from the resource kit and have the script copy it to System32 before it executes it. WOuld not be hard at all and would not require special licensing.
