Re: Which cert should I go for CEH vs Security+/Pentest+
I'm actually sitting in an Infosec Flex boot camp for the Sec+ next week, so I'd advocate for that cert before jumping straight into the CEH or Pentest+ or something along those lines. My certification path looks something like Sec+, CCNA, CySA+, Pentest+, CASP+, with CEH and/or SSCP thrown in there somewhere maybe. Since… -
cyber security certification/training suggestions for beginners?
I figured some of my information is outdated as there are numerous new providers. I'm trying to compile a list of cert suggestions for beginners in various specialisation and could use your help! 1) Pentesting Cyber Mentor certifications / training eLearnSecurity eJPT SANS GPEN (although not something I'd recommend, the… -
Re: Cheapest/fastest way for 50 CEU in a month?
I don't know of any free way to renew your cert, but it might be worth a shot to email CompTIA to see if they'd give you an extension if you schedule a test for 2 months from now. The CySA+ and PenTest+ both renew the Sec+, if you'd prefer to take one of those over the CASP+ within the next month or two. Then, once you get… -
Re: Might as well make it 3?
What do you do now when you don't know the meaning of a word? Do you go back and reread the entire textbook from an English class? Don't review A+ and Network+. Just move forward with Security+ material. If during your Security+ studies you hit a learning wall due to material you recognize from the older certs, then review… -
Re: I've come to appreciate the Security+ exam
GIAC certs really do cost 20 times more don't they. Wow. I agree with the consensus about appreciating the place that Security+ plays/has played. It definitely had a role in shaping me. Though I wonder if the cert will fall out of style and actually become less popular because of the lure of certs like CySA+ and PenTest+… -
Exam Ref AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals 2nd Edition
Hi, I recently passed Azure Fundamentals, I used "Exam Ref AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals 2nd Edition" from Amazon. I read the book from cover to cover. I also have global admin read access to Azure and helped a migration project into the Azure for a POC. I barely passed 790/700. I'm currently taking the AZ-500 next.… -
[Video] The road to the CASP+ | Cyber Career Forum - Jason Dion
If someone’s ultimate goal is the CASP+, would the CySA+ and Pentest+ be beneficial in the meantime? Is there enough overlap to make either of them worth the extra effort and money? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9GfEX35C-U In this week's episode, Infosec Skills author Jason Dion relates the CASP+ exam to a capstone… -
How much MAC OS knowledge do we need?
Hey all, I am studying for this exam atm and am honestly becoming discouraged after reading the threads in this forum section lol. I had a question regarding knowledge of the MAC OS: While going through the CompTIA CySA+ Practice Tests: Exam CS00-001 by Sybex (which I am finding includes material never mentioned in any of… -

Just a little history, I am a returning member, I just could not get back into my account, "EspiOne". No biggie. Just coming back to get some advice. Which I will post as the time passes. Re: PenTest+ renewal
You should be fine. Generally I try to use training that provides some documentation of the number of hours spent in the training, webinar, etc. HOWEVER, I've used online training from Coursera - similar to Cybrary - where the training syllabus would list the "estimated" hours to get through various sections of the course,…
