Re: 16 year old needs advice
You may even consider Network+, Security+ then CCENT. The reason is CompTIA exams are more conceptual and about the overall picture. When you get into Cisco you are going to start learning more in depth on routing protocols, securing actual equipment, and many other things where having the concepts allows for a deeper… -
Re: Copy NTFS permissions to another folder
Robocopy has always worked for me. Specifically the /COPYALL switch. /COPY:copyflagI]s[/I : What to COPY (default is /COPYDAT) (copyflags : D=Data, A=Attributes, T=Timestamps S=Security=NTFS ACLs, O=Owner info, U=aUditing info). /SEC : Copy files with SECurity (equivalent to /COPYDATS). /DCOPY:T : Copy Directory… -
Re: Has anyone taken the new CCNA exam?
If you study all the topics for the 801 (without ISDN, IGRP and RIP v1) and add in Wireless, some security (like configuring SSH, and how to restrict telnet connections to a router, etc.) and configuring a router as a DHCP server you should be ok. Although it may be overkill, the SNRS book from the CCSP covers all of the… -
Re: Question about extending my wifi coverage.

Re: Questiong About Listing Certs on a Resume
My signature needs to be updated...not planning to take the 70-297 any longer since I took the 70-298. I did send my Security+ to MS and is included as part of my MCSA. Once I complete my MCSE, I believe all I will need is one more security exam to get that specialization if I choose to...so it may be worth going that… -
Re: Question about renewing my certification
Are you sure? I don't think that's right. Security+ renews A+ and Network+, but he said the certifications are already expired. Once they expire, you have to take the test again to get certified. If you wanted the Security+ to renew the A+ and Network+, you would've had to do it within the 3 years that the A+ and Network+… -
Re: No wonder wireless struggles to take off!
The sheer increase of knowledge of wireless networks and wireless network security I've seen in these forums of the past several years alone shows wireless will remain on the uprise and I'm sure it will eventually start getting a better rep in terms of security. Eventually every IT pro involved with networks will have to… -
Re: Connecting Remotely to my CCNA Lab
If I recall, 2500 and 1700's do not support SSH, such including your 2511 access server. So if you with to secure your communications to your lab remotely then you'd have to setup a vpn then connect to the lab via telnet while vpn'd into a network. Or you can buy a NM-16A and use a 2600 router with a security feature set… -

Re: Cut it close but passed 640-554
Going to relax for a few weeks during the holidays. I might take a break from Cisco and do the VCP since my work has already sent me to the required and expensive class. I am going to get the CCNP Secure book since it has some good material to know, but I am not sure if I am going to go down the CCNP Security route or not.
