The lack of tabs alone is enough to make me not want to use it. The defaults for copy/paste are pretty annoying too but nothing you can't change. Lacks sending commands to multiple tabs. No scripted logins and other features.
PuTTY will get the job done, but as someone who spends a lot of time on multiple sessions it's just not very practical. An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -
Robonon Member Posts: 15 ■□□□□□□□□□I started using PuTTY in my first job as an ISP NOC tech, and just stuck with it. Now I'm helpdesk/network support and still use PuTTY. A few weeks ago I found SuperPuTTY and it is awesome. No tabs was always my biggest gripe, and that's finally been put to rest!

Jon_Cisco Member Posts: 1,772 ■■■■■■■■□□I have never used a tabbed terminal emulator. Can you open connections to multiple router with single serial connection?
I currently use an access server to connect to each device but it would be nice if I could keep the windows opened rather then switching devices each time. -
Magic Johnson Member Posts: 414I've been using Putty. Just downloaded SuperPutty, will check that out. Cheers guys.

Iristheangel Mod Posts: 4,133 ModMy excuse my seem silly. I know that SecureCRT works a lot better than Putty but to be honest, the only reason I use Putty is to be used to it and fast with it. My goal is eventually to get to the CCIE R&S and I've heard enough horror stories about people who labbed with SecureCRT and used to the ease of it only to find themselves slowed down when they were forced to use Putty in the R&S lab. It's a speed test as much of a knowledge test

I like the ability to start up tabbed sessions for an entire site (voice gateways, switches, CUCM, CUC and so on) by just right clicking on a folder in the session manager window. I know Putty can do it with add-ons but blaaah.CCNP:Collaboration, CCNP:R&S, CCNA:S, CCNA:V, CCNA, CCENT -

I haven't tried MTpuTTY to do that. I use it to telnet to several devices on a remote live rack. I'll try that and post back. -

I tried using MTpuTTY on my home lab. I got it to work and was able to access all 8 of my devices, 1 tab for each. I used a single console cable from my PC to R1. Once I'm consoled in, I create a new Telnet session, MTpuTTY creates a new tab, type in the IP address.
Essentially, I console into R1, then telnet to all the other devices using MTpuTTY with each device in its own tab.
