I felt your pain. I had done IT 10 years and for the past 8 I have wanted to be a network engineer.
You need to specialize into something you love to do. If you do a systems admin job or network admin job
you might do everything and feel exhausted. I understand your pain.
Look for something you love. And get some training in it and move.
You might take a small pay cut or maybe even get a raise. But specialize.
You have years of experience under your belt. I am now finally
a pure network engineer. I only do network engineering and am focusing on new goals
maybe even CCIE some day. But you need a venue change man!
Specialize and find something you love. you are overwhlemed.
IT is a thankless job. so specialize into something you think is cool~
I love network engineering and am on a new IT high!
do it if i can you can!

Kids and family obligations tend to do that. Its a sacrifice we have to make. When my kids are older I will probably take more chances on employment.
