disk defrag on a SBM or any server
Deathmage
Guys,
I defrag my hard drive sometimes (less on a ssd) but does the idea of defragging still apply to a RAID-Based server array's on a domain controller or member servers for instance that has a exchange/SQL database on it.
I have a few instances at work were customer SBM servers have jack-of-all-trades DC's that have upward of 50 percent fragmentation and perform like carp... but I'm hesitant to defrag them because of the databases.
Thoughts?

Get something like PerfectDisk Server... it should do the trick.

There is no real need to defrag an SSD AFAIK.

You don't need to defrag an SSD drive.

Apparently also Defraggler Business Edition also does RAID array level defragmentation that is safe for AD/Exchange/SQL Databases; looks like I'll be using this - plus my employer has a contract with Piriform.
