Windows server knowledge, is it necessary?

gorebrush Member Posts: 2,743 ■■■■■■■□□□Personally I think a lot depends on the size of the company you work for. I was a one man band for a company that had 20 Windows Servers and a full blown Cisco network and VoIP too. CCNP and MCSE was a massive advantage for me. I now work in a massive MSP and while I don't need my MCSE to be a good network engineer - I have a definite advantage over those who are not because a lot of our tickets are related to server problems. Having a strong understanding of Servers helps the network aspect. I think the same applies to Linux or any other end-device.
Also I think I want the MCSE 2012 but I want more than one CCIE too....
