I do not get over time, but I get comp days (paid time off that's not on the books) for extra time worked. I know its illegal, especially in California, but the flexibility is worth it; they don't care if you're late, you get to work from home 1 day a week as well as during on-call weeks, and most of the time you can leave early if nothing is going on, while still getting paid full time.

Salaried, but we do get a shift bonus for on-call.

Myself and the other NetOps person are on call every-other week. We get $40/day if you're on call, regardless of whether we get paged or not. My last 3 weeks I've been on-call, I think I got a call once, and that lasted all of 2 minutes.

In terms of actual overtime, we do comp-time if you go over 40.

    It's a pretty good gig :D

When I started with my current company as a sysadmin / help desk guy, we were hourly. The overtime was sweet! (One on-site disaster resulted in me making more in two days than I did in a regular week!) Eventually, all of us were transitioned to salary, which is where I'm still at as a security analyst.

The typical "security analyst" does not qualify to be exempt from overtime based on the average job requirements. Chances are, you are mis classified and are due overtime pay for any hour over 40 in a standard work week.

I'm hourly and I get paid time & a half for OT. I have an interview with a company Tuesday of next that is salary, but they have an on call rotation that they actually pay you for the OT.

Yes i do get paid OT, and i make a lot of money as i work a lot.

With the time i have learned to appreciate the time off but i want to make as much money as i can while i can so i try my best to deal with the stress and the burn out syndrome.

Hourly with OT at time and a half. Some project based work (actually not enough for my taste!) will keep me in the office past normal working hours once every couple of months.
