For me, after qualifying, I had to become 'most competitive' given my skillset vs everyone else via education, and experience, underwent a battery of exams, interviews, meet and greets, physical fitness tests, was flown to NYC (that's when it struck me, my dream was becoming real)...

I was really interested in the FBI and read all that stuff, bought books on getting hired, etc. Then I watched a video about Quantico where the recruits were doing punishing physical fitness exercises in the Virginia heat... Then I remembered how much I totally hate exercise. That's the whole reason I got into computers...

Some physical fitness is required for law enforcement, sucks, but if you have to chase a suspect and once you catch up tussle with them you'll be happy you have been conditioned. Does it happen often? No, but that one time could be the last time. I was in the lovely Georgia heat during my time, where for kicks they'd make sure your started your run just before they raised the black flag (which would mean it was too hot to run that day). Honestly, running was the tough part, but after mile three you're usually good to go.

I'm personally getting ready to do some work for the FBI (contractor) and hoping to network and see if there are any opportunities available, but don't quite have the education or experience just yet for cyber FBI. Good luck to ya.

Yeah True, thought about that too. Suppose it depends on what you're currently being paid, if I could go in as a GS-12 or 13 that'd be ideal but unfortunately I only ever see job opportunities for that pay scale to be hired internally only.

The last alphabet agency to offer me a job came in at a 30% pay cut. Not possible. Turned them down. I would've loved to work there but I have responsibilities and that kind of pay cut is just not feasible.

Hope that works out for you! If it does keep me in mind! :D
