Video Conference over Call Manager Express

Hi guys. Just want to ask if it's possible to implement video over Call Manager Express to support video conference on 9XXX series IP Phones.

Edit: it's kind of sad that the feature "was never fully productized or supported", but still made it into CCIE Collab exam.

"We dropped support for using PVDM3 as a video CFB, you'll need a video CFB for that.". Is it the same? And what is CFB?

Yes, they are talking about the same thing.

CFB stands for Conference Bridge. Cisco wants you to use TelePresence Servers (TS) as CFB along with TelePresence Conductor (TC), and possibly TelePresence Management Suite (TMS). You could still use the older Multipoint Control Units (MCU) as CFB too.

In short, TS and MCU are the video CFB they are talking about. They are the workhorses that process video. TelePresence Conductor manages CFB resources and talks to CUCM. TMS is used for scheduling conferences.

You could also look into cloud-based conferencing, like Cloud CMR.

Also, some TelePresence endpoints support MultiSite, which means they can host a video conference, but the number of participants is limited and you need a special license to enable MultiSite.

So, the only way to "play" with video calls in my home lab is to deploy CUCM. Right?

As far as I understand it, you should still be able to make point-to-point video calls with CME as long as they don't require transcoding. It's the DSP-based video conferencing that is getting deprecated.
