    Hey TechGromit,

Congrats on the new position. I'm not that far from you. I'm in the Syracuse area. Rochester has it's perks. They have a good hackerspace out there, and R.I.T. hosts BSides Rochester every year, which is an awesome conference to go to. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or after you get settled.

@ Adam - Agreed 100% No way I could deal with the cold and snow, even for a 20 k bump. But we are all different and have our own objectives. I'm early 40's and my knees and neck ache when it gets those extreme temps.

Spent a year in Minnesota and that was enough for me to realize up top wasn't for me.......

Either way, good luck on your decision I am sure you will do just fine.

I haven't lived in the Northeast in years, and I understand the weather being a concern as I like the South mid-West winters since they are shorter. I don't mind the snow so much, but I do hate the months of dreary, cloudy days But for the right job opportunity, I'd probably give it a whirl, especially being single and unencumbered with a mortgage.
