who actually works in IT

im studying towards MCSE. i have a crappy job working in a betting shop, im studying in my spare time but dont get alot of hands on experince all i can do is read the books. just wondered how many of you actually work in IT, if you do work in IT the exams and studying must be easier for you guys?

I completly agree certs alone will for what it's worth I jsut finished school about a mnoth ago(2nd diploma) and I was told all my certs would do is get me an interview by several HR people and my instructor.

certs are good but if u have no experience that will hurt you.

aftr my 1st diploma I workd for a marketing copany doing Database work got laid off wnet to a callcenter for 2.5 years donig tier1 and tier2 work. got tired of it so went back to school again and got my diploma in Network and internet security plus my A+, Net+, 270 and 290 certs.

now I'm an "IT support Technician" but really run the network here for 50 users and a handfull of servers.

you need a balenced approach as stated above.
