    Okay guys,
It hasn't been THAT long since I started studying for my CCNA (801) and decided to get a home lab. I had no idea, so I played it safe. Got most of my stuff from vendors, paid WAY too much. After learning some for the CCNA and doing some research, I saw how I could have done much better. Oh well, it all still works.
Anyways, ITDADDY, the time will come when you'll be helping someone else with their lab. Remember what you went through and help them do it better.
Now, about that $300 3550... Someone send me a PM!! I could use one of those for the CCNP!!

Don't bother with ISDN. It's not on the CCNA-802.
The 801 tested on IOS 12.2, the 802 is testing for 12.4. IOS 12.4 will not run an old 2600, it would need to be a 2600XM.
The 801 tested STP, the 802 is testing on the RapidSTP. The 2950 won't do RSTP, it must be the 2960 or the 2950T.

Some things have changed, a lot has not.
    Among other things:
    They took out ISDN
    They added some wireless
    They added some VOIP
The old exam tested on IOS 12.2
The new exam tests on 12.4
The old exam tested on Spanning Tree Protocol
The new exam tests on Rapid Spanning Tree
Overall, most of the old objectives are still there (how much has TCP\IP changed?) but they have just updated them.
    Keep studying and Good Luck!!
Experience is a harsh teacher. She gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.

Your not going to get a 3550 EMI for under $750. Anyone who who got a 3550 for 300 bucks did not get it from ebay. I have been looking for a 3550 myself and I can't find one for under 800 bucks.

When I bought my 3550 EMI PoE 24port switch I paid $800 on ebay. It's an investment though.

    My current lab is:

    2x 2501
    1x 2514
    1x 3550
    1x 2960
    1x 831

Soon to be upgrading to probably 3-4 2620's, 2511 and adding a 2950 plus the rack finally. May also try for a 2611xm for the house.
