single mode fiber restrictions
Morning all ....
Sorry but my q is not related to any CCNP topic .
Is there any kind of restriction to connect two switches(lx/lh gbic or sfp) directly with SM fiber if the distance is less than 100 M?
My friend is telling that this my burn the gbic/sfp or damaging the switch.
Is that true?

Cisco Gigabit Interface Converter Data SheetTable 1 provides cabling specifications for the Cisco GBICs that you install in the Gigabit Ethernet port. Note that all Cisco GBICs have SC-type connectors, and the minimum cable distance for all GBICs listed (multimode fiber [MMF] and single-mode fiber [SMF]) is 6.5 feet (2 m).
