How many computers...

vColevCole Member Posts: 1,573 ■■■■■■■□□□
Do you have at home?

I have 3 alone, in my bedroom. My main desktop, my laptop & my soon to be server. (Was a test Debian Server). I'll be putting Server 2003 standard on that machine (MSDN through school ftw) and making it a Domain Controller. I also have my parents PC and a spare laptop hanging around. icon_cool.gif

Just one now - I use VM's for everything.

I'd LIKE to have loads of them just scattered about, but alas, the missus doesn't approve icon_sad.gif

just don't tell her about the various servers and boxes of bits hiding in the garage

We have 3 computers. A laptop for the wife, a desktop for me, and another desktop turned into a server (my previous desktop which was actually my wife's before that). The server's running CentOS and is currently being used for DNS just for the fun of it. I wouldn't mind having more computers but it isn't really a necessity with VMs these days.

Only three between me and my wife. One each for everyday use and one for what ever I see fit for it at the time (currently nothing as the HD is bad from the rugrats throwing it around).

I have one I built in the living room. I have another I cheaply built in my office so I have something to use while my wife surfs myspace on the one in the living room. I also have a dell 170L that I use as a file server in my office along with a compaq that was replaced by the one in the living room. I have an old HP laptop and my current Dell laptop. There is also an old emachine that I snagged to play with Linux on but it's just collecting dust right now.

10ish that I could power on and use right this minute. Plus plenty of parts to make more. Most of them are older hardware though.

I've got 2. One desktop that I built in Iraq, and one laptop (which hardly runs..monitor is messed up..from iraq). The laptop is a $600 HP.

All I gotta say is..you all are geeks. Guess I'm preaching to the choir though. Oh well.

I think I have 6 and a big shelfcase full of hardware. I was up around 10, but a while ago i finally decided to ditch the old P1 and AMD-k6's.

I only have one good computer worth talking about that i built last year, that's the one I use. The rest are older P2, P3, and P4.

One workstation that I use for music, games, and none of your business.
    One laptop for work
One server with Server 2008 x64 Enterprise running Hyper-V and SCVMM, 8GB of memory, RAID, and all that other good stuff. I have SSH running on port 443 on it so when I'm at clients I can SSH in (who blocks 443?) and then RDP to localhost:3391 (custom port) which then gets tunneled over SSH.

I would build a media center if I could integrate cablecard. But cablecard is for OEMs and those are way too expensive.

    way way to many....

at least a dozen working... more in parts....

trying to get rid of most of them actually..

Wife and I each have a higher end laptop. And then I have to many servers.

So I want to get one or two 2650 or 2850s and then run vm's in all of them.

I have a Dell laptop, Barebone desktop. my parents both have desktops and laptops that I put together for them as well. I'm looking to purchase a used HP server for a DC.
