Asking the father for permission...

Hey guys, after much thought I have decided to ask my girlfriend to marry me. Do you guys think I should talk to her dad or is that an outdated tradition? We are both 25. If so, how should I do it?

I didn't have the option to (RIP), but I did ask her mother anyway out of respect...

I sat down with both parents and got their blessing. It went over real well, though I'm sure I came across as nervous at the time.

Now you have to edit every post and change girlfriend to fiancee. Get used to saying that as well

I was thinking the same thing! I reread the post and didn't see anything about asking the lovely lady. Soooo, did ya?? And how'd you do it, or do you plan to make it a Christmas surprise?

no, haven't asked her yet. I'm going to do it 1/5/09. Her gma is here from England and she was more like a mother to her than her real one. It will mean a lot to her to have her here for it.
