Neither. I want to be happy.

For me carrying a gun is completely utilitarian.

Oh, I agree. I used to work overnights in downtown Atlanta in a not very nice section of town. Acquiring my sidearm was purely a practical concern (and there was one incident where I'm firmly convinced that it's presence averted a situation which would have not resulted in a favorable outcome for me).

The amount of crap I get for carrying a sidearm for my personal protection turned me into an activist. Georgia's gun laws have their roots in racism. Most of them were instituted during the Jim Crow era, when the state legislature was concerned with the black man being able to arm himself.

Thankfully, we have some legislators who are systematically dismantling that. To give you an idea of how messed up firearms laws were in Georgia... in 2008, we became allowed to carry on public transportation (only with a license). Prior to that, if I'd had my car stopped at a traffic light that also happened to have a bus stop on the curb, I could have been charged with a felony that carried a maximum possible sentence of 20 years. In contrast, if I'd actually hopped on a bus while carrying a firearm, that would have only been a 10 year felony.

I hate having to argue over this crap, all I wanted to do was provide for my personal security. Instead, I've had to turn into an armchair lawyer in order to be able to do that.
Let those of you that are oppressed here in the US please stand and be counted....honestly, I don't feel oppression from government at all, in fact, I feel like large corporations are much more oppressive.

At the risk of sounding like a crackpot conspiracy theorist, who do you think the proxy for those large corporations happens to be? ;)

That is my point. Irregular behavior such as carrying large amounts of cash deserve at least the due diligence of questioning. If someone can't agree with that, I don't know what world they think they live in.
Exactly what threat is carrying a couple thousand dollars? You think he's gonna bribe the pilot or something? I have over $1000 in an underwear drawer right now. Am I suspicious? Should the police come to my house and question me over it?

If we go by your logic gun shaped masses or people with fuses hanging out of their shoe shouldn't be questioned either because its their right to hang fuses out of what ever piece of clothing they want!

ROFL this is ridiculous. One thing you can always count on is "to use that logic" will be followed by something completely illogical. It's like when people start a sentence with "I'm not a racist but" and it's always followed by something ridiculously racist.

If you bothered to actually read the posts rather than skim for an argument you would have seen this.
I could understand the argument if they busted in his house and asked him why he had so much cash, but that is not what happened.

I don't really think it matters why the guy thought it was suspicious. Its his job to protect the flights not mine. I don't think he is qualified to come tell me what to do at my job so I won't try to say how he should do his. I do however think the guy with the cash should not have been a smart ass and just answered the simple question. Its that stupid better than thou attitude that makes me sick. That guy is just there trying to keep him safe and he acts like its the end of the world because he asked him why he had the money. If it was campaign funds then just say it and move on. Don't pull out your cell and make a huge scene out of nothing to give the media turds something to blog about. That represents everything that is wrong with this country IMO. If you don't agree that's fine. There are plenty of people out there protecting your right to have that opinion whether you agree with them or not.
