At least in my narrow view most of the MS DBA certs are geared toward actually being an adminstrator. Is there any lower level "SQL" certs Microsoft related. Anything pertaining to the utilization of Joins, Unions, Views etc. I've taken several collegiate database classes so I have some basic concepts, although I've never dealt with stored procedures or triggers, other than reading about them.
Any certification existing saying hey mister employer I can write a freaking join?
Thanks for any consideration and answer.

As jncarter pointed out, you'd be looking for the Database Developer certifications for that.

Quick question, I have 2008 express on my machine at home, would that version of 2008 be enough to study and pass that exam? Or would I need to get the reporting version or another version of SQL 2008?

If you are really serious you may want to pick up a copy of the developer edition, which is around $50 US. I run developer edition on my laptop.
