how much memory does my 2651xm have?

in CCNA Collaboration
I am trying to upgrade 2651xm router ios so that it can host ccme 4.1 or later. I have a problem with its memory. it may be another questions which may sound stupid but here it comes, the router currently has 2 128MB Dram which should be 256. Now when the router boots
it shows the following

System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(8r) [cmong 8r], RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Copyright (c) 2003 by cisco Systems, Inc.
C2600 platform with 262144 Kbytes of main memory

but when I issue show version command I see

now when I took out one dram and booted the router it showed

So why do I see 126908K/4164K when issuing show version despite the fact that the router has 2x128dram and should show 256?




and another question regarding flash memory. do those 2651xm router have 16mb of built in flash? if yes I have put 32 mb flash memory into the same 2651xm router and when issuing show flash suprisingly I can only see 32 mb of flash

    You need a late version of 12.3T or newer for support for greater than 128MB in a 2600XM. Get 12.4 or 12.4T.

    You need to make sure it isn't partitioned and format the flash when you add or change the flash SIMM.

    I changed the IOS to 12.4 and it recognized the 256 memory. Also formated the flash and all went well. Thanks a lot!!!

    256MB memory on a router, wow we've come a long way since the 2500 days.

    And the latest and greatest top out even higher from what I've heard.

    I have to remember to do a quick sh ver at work next time I am on one of the new ones, assuming they trust me with those

    Use a smaller feature set and/or trim the CME image by deleting firmware for phones you don't actually have.
