Hate the fact that they couldn't even give me curtsey call to inform me.

I remember way back when, about 2 years ago, when I was interviewing for Qwest. The interview process took forever, about 3 months. Then once I was offered the job and a wage I waited another 3 months before one of my buddies there let me know that the opening was cut due to budget problems... Their HR never contacted me, just nothing. But oh well, I ended up in a much better job because of it.

It was the waiting that drove me nuts, always checking the cell phone and jumping out of my skin when anybody called...

Same thing is happening to me now, but I keep on applying for jobs. I have applied for 4 different jobs, one almost 3 weeks ago and.......not a word! One was an internal position and still nothing. It just sucks that nobody is willing to give the time of day to see what skills we have and what we can do.

    Just keep chugging away!

honestly...Im so disappointed how the hiring process works. I call and ask them on the status. She tells me "ill get back to you ASAP" So more than a week goes by...nothing no email, phone calls. So i call them today and ask...she tells me "I know they hired someone for the position, but Mike (the hiring manager) is on vacation so I didnt get back to you?

WHAT? if they hired someone why do you have to wait for Mike to tell me they hired someone last week.. JUST A LOAD OF BS IMHO.

I mean i care, i want the JOB..but just tell me if you want me or NOT.

do what I do. Take every rejection personally. And channel that back into your studies. "Oh, so you think I'm not good enough for your helpdesk position? Well then I'll see you're helpdesk and raise you and MCITP:EA. Oh, and my CCNA isn't good enough for your Network 1 position? Then I guess I gotta raise it up and slap you down with my CCNP!" Don't make the mistake I did and fall complacent. I haven't studied for a cert in the last 2 1/2 years and while I was still getting job offers, the market has suddenly gotten tighter where even personal recommendations aren't enough any more. The grand majority of my job inquiries are from friend recommendations, but I've been 0-4 myself lately (and that's with recommendations from within via friends!) So don't worry, you're not the only one who's hit a cold snap. Keep plugging away, and continue your studies. Be grateful when you finally land a job, learn and do all you can. Rinse and repeat and you'll do ok. Oh, and don't forget to network!!! As I said, most of my job inquiries are through my network of friends, and you only build that up by rubbing elbows with fellow IT folk whether at a job, a computer fair, computer club, or whatever you have available in your area.

Just curious, but why are you keeping track of how many times you've been turned down for a job? Don't get fixated on the negatives, that will only bring you down.

Rather than focusing on how you didn't get a call back or how you got turned down, focus on what you can do to improve your chances. Also, when you call and get notified that that opt for someone else, dont get pissed off or be like "OK...", ask them why they went with the other person or what you were lacking
