Should I omit objectives from an internship resume?

I am looking for my first internship/job in IT and applying to some top companies through my university. Some companies (Ernst & Young, HD Supply) offer internship positions not related to IT. When submitting my resume and requesting an on-campus interview, I am not asked which position I want to apply to. Sometimes it doesn't even mention the type of positions offered; the advertisement only mentions the majors they are seeking.
When applying at these companies, should I put in a general objective such as:
To obtain an internship in IT with my experience in computer troubleshooting and scripting to enhance my technical expertise
Or should I just leave it out altogether? I am afraid leaving it out would not highlight the area/field I want to intern in.

My thoughts exactly. Your objective is to get a job. Your resume wouldn't be there otherwise. It's stating the obvious IMO and the space could be better used for something to make you stand out.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -

The thing is that there are 8 positions or so that are in various departments. The application did not ask me to apply for a specific position. I ended up leaving it in this time but I'll continue to leave it out for other applications. Thanks!
