    Have another VLAN related question.

When applying the following statement "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q", do I need to be in global config mode or interface mode.

    TIA

I have one LAST question with VLANs, I promise!!!!

Would the following commands properly carry traffic from all VLANs to a directly connected switch.

    - switchport mode trunk
    - switchport access vlan all

    TIA

I did the Vlan, part of CCNA theoratically, bcuz the place where i was training was short on switches.

i think i understand, but u can never know, unless u've tried it out practically, do u guyz think using a simulator could substitute for lack of hands on experience, u know just to get the feel of it ???

Yeah, a simulator is better than nothing, much better actually as they've become pretty advanced. Still not really hands-on, but it helps a lot with remembering those commands and when and where to use them.

If actual equipment is not available, I highly recommend the Cisco CCNA Network Simulator by Cisco Press/Boson.
