Will Windows 8 go the way of Windows ME and Windows Vista?

I shall wait then, I am really annoyed because I have a virtual pc vhd with almost 90 GB of data that I can not access now, vmware convertor does not recognize it, I guess I will install windows 7 on a different partition to be able to get that data back.
