CISSP complete, now what?
Hello all. Longtime lurker but infrequent poster. I've recently been looking for the next step in my certification track/career. Quick summary of where I sit below for context. My Experience: * 3 years Domain/Network Admin in the Navy * 1 year Network Support at a public university * 2 years Info Sys Admin at defense… -
Looking for advice and resources
Back in high school, our CRAM class offered the option to take the A+ certification test at the end of it. This was back sometime in 2004. I took the test and passed without issue. That said, I've spent a good time since then working a job that I hate and I'm feeling the call for IT. I'm looking to get my foot in the door… -
Accepted to WGU
The application process was pretty smooth I'd say. The talk with the Enrollment Counselor was pretty smooth as well, although I had to track one down, the one assigned to me was not putting in any effort to work with me on scheduling a time. The 'assessment' was a joke to be honest. You could almost google all the math… -
PASSED today!!!
So excited! Worth all the hard work. Passed today with a 765. As far as the test was concerned, I've got to say it was actually much harder than I had anticipated. I was scoring 90%'s on all my practice quizzes on the first run through yet I was not confident at all that I had passed the actual exam until I got my score at… -
Re: Which cert should be my first?
I agree with the those who say to start with A+. This cert is entry level, but should not be discredited. I see plenty of mid-level to senior-positions that still prefer or require the certification. Each company is different in their job requirements. Here's one that prefers a 4-yr College Degree and/or 5-yrs work… -
Re: What I noticed at the certification testing center
Evidentally this kid comes in from time to time according to the lady. She said the exam is scheduled for 3 hrs and 45 mins (correct me if I am wrong ) But I guess the server guy has been known to do this. The other kid according to the lady is a first timer. I've been to this site for all my EXIN and Comptia certs so she… -
Re: Certification vs Degree
I guess the answer here is life is a an exam with several answers to the question, several being right, and you only have to pick one. I currently have several certs and no degree (yet). I've just happened to pick up the certs as they relate to my classes. The program I am in tries to teach material based on the objectives… -
Re: CASP+ vs ISSAP/ISSEP
Thanks for the insight. From what I understand, CASP+ is favored by many contractors for the US DoD that have a security clearance and desire a promotion, because passing it would grant them the same qualification level as would the CISSP (IAT Level-3). They say that the questions are much more straightforward and passing… -
Re: MCITP SA - which test should I attempt first?
I seriously doubt that's how Microsoft have designed the exam topics. 646 and 647 build on what is in previous Server 2008 exams in a big way. I'm currently up to my eyeballs studying for the 647 exam in the new year and with the benefit of hindsight (4 MS exams later) there would've have been no hope in hell of passing me… -
Re: Certiport IC3 GS4 Exam
Hi, glad you pass the 3 exams. I heard about this certification a time ago. Its one of the most popular low entry certs regarding to computer literacy. Its designed for high school students mostly if im not wrong. Another good entry certification are the MTA certifications from Microsoft. They are low entry but more…
