The game looks pretty fun, I occasionally watch my brother play. Though I'm trying not to let it interfere with my study, it's kind of tempting to try it out and join them. icon_cool.gif

meh, MUDS are still more entertaining. The graphical MUD BARP(blood and roleplaying) was what I played back in my school days. I would often take my homework and do it on the desk in front of my computer...so when noone was looking, I would go grab some EXP for my warrior.
Sucked when I told someone I was doing research, and accidently pulling up the MUD screen instead of the web browser. <_< >_>

Priston tale was fun as hell, and Final fantasy 11 was addicting and fun when you could actually find a good party. I will never play another MMORPG. >_<

After five years of playing Diablo 2 and hoping and waiting to see a Diablo 3, I finally gave up and went to TQ.

I was hoping for Diablo 3 as well since I loved Diablo 2. I miss my Sorc and Barb. Thing is, most of the developers for Diablo 2 left the company. Even so, Blizzard is still very talented and am sure they'd make a great Diablo 3.

With WoW doing so well they might be holding off doing diablo3 because alot of people would switch to that. The diablo series always had good FREE multiplayer. They may also be holding out so they can do a Diablo MMO. icon_sad.gif

I agree on the MUDs, I used to play Gemstone III (Now IV) all the time. I actually logged back in last year and played for a few months...but that's addicting too.

Blizzard have released nothing official regarding that. But apparently they have had a team of around 100 people working on something at Blizzard for a while, some of them ex Diablo1/2 team. Would be great huh :)

Blizzard was hiring like crazy at their Irvine, CA offices for people to work on Startcraft 2. It's long hours at low pay; the same at Electronic Arts.

I didnt know this was the case at blizzard, this surprises me, of course I read that famous letter from an estranged EA workers wife about the crappy hours and work ethic.

I do know that some smaller developers treat their staff awesomely. I have an old friend who used to work for Rare here in the UK, I beleive they now do all work for Microsoft under MS studio name. But they treated staff really well, kept the creative team well out of the stress of deadlines and just let them worry about creating great games. Which is what it should be all about, just like the film industry right?

It would be nice to see a diablo 3. I hope they do a good job on it if they do make one. I think I have played all of Blizards games from the start except for WoW. I used to play UO back when it came out and I think that burned me on mmo's.

I think alot of the mmo's would be better off without the "player housing". UO was so cluttered with houses that you could barely walk around. New players had little chance of finding a spot to build on either. I tried the star wars mmo and it just seemed like more of the same. Is WoW actualy better or just the same thing with a big name slapped on it?

WoW is so popular because it appeals to a massive audience, and it has original "lore" made up for the story. In terms of mmo's it does nothing hugely different, no player housing in fact, no shops like SWG, not much character customization. Just lots of content to mess about with.

I have had a sub since it went retail, I play when I can and with friends, makes it good fun.

There's actually 3 dev teams at blizzard, two of which are accounted for.

The WoW team, which is up to around 120 people these days.

The RTS team, which does both the Starcraft and Warcraft series

And then this mysterious third team, which is the remnants of Blizzard North (The studio that developed the previous Diablo games before having a project bomb [Many suspect it was D3] and turn out completely unfun to play, and was then largely disbanded), as well as new hires.

Considering job postings over the past handful of years, including a "Gothic Art Specialist", it's pretty much guaranteed that Diablo 3 is currently in development. It could still be another three years before we see it, though icon_sad.gif

Hey man, not just anyone can jump into the gothic art scene. When you're creating the citadels to fight ancient demons from hell in, you gotta have some style, some built in class, things that can't just be handed out.

That was StarCraft: Ghost, an updated and console-only version of StarCraft. An astonishing waste of time, money, and resources it supposedly was. According to its Wikipedia article, concepts created for StarCraft: Ghost may appear in StarCraft II.

Nope. Starcraft Ghost was developed by an outside studio, which Blizzard bought. They're now working on some other console game or another - however, it is a very different team than the one in question.
