Geek Stereotypes
hey all, a friend and i were talking the other day when a geeksquad ad came on, she mad reference to the fact that that was great yet untruthful advertising. she believes that the likelyhood of finding a semi attractive geek is like none. so in order to save our dignity i would like everyone who reads this to post a link proving otherwise. if you cant prove her wrong then send some good goffy pix of geekdom.

skrpune Member Posts: 1,409I'm not brave enough (or trusting enough, take your pick) to post a picture of myself, but I will say that at my last tech job, I was frequently told that I didn't "look" like a computer person. Not sure if that has to do with me being female or if it was because I don't look like the comic book store guy on the Simpsons or a little of both. But I was once told by a (female) customer that I looked more like a model than a technician. I think she meant it as a compliment, but I wasn't really too sure how to take it. I muttered an "um, thanks" and went about my business.

Alrighty, in the interest of proving to procman's friend that we're not all greasy, crumb-covered, basement dwelling Melvins, I'll include a couple of semi-nondescript pics. (Sorry, still a bit paranoid about posting pics of myself openly on the web, so nothing too closeup here...)

I'm just hoping we don't have a winter like last winter. What'd it snow like 3-4 times every week for like half a year?“For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.” - Harry F. Banks -

As for last winter in Chicago, I wouldn't know, I was in Toronto last winter. But lucky me, I was there for a record breaking winter - more snow in 1-2 days in December 07 than they usually had for the entire month...and nearly 7' of snow overall for the winter. Nice!
So how 'bout a pic of you enjoying the weather down in the tropics??Currently Studying For: Nothing (cert-wise, anyway)

royal Member Posts: 3,352 ■■■■□□□□□□Well I'm in Fort Walton Beach. It's right on the border of Alabama and Florida. I'd hardly call it the tropics since it's actually kind of cold down here as well.
Last winter there was a period of a couple weeks when there was a thick layer of ice everywhere. That week I went to Orlando when they were having a heat wave. That was great going from 0 degree weather with ice everywhere to 80+ degree weather. I wish it was that warm in the area of FL I'm in. Ah well, still warmer than Chicago so I still can't complain!“For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.” - Harry F. Banks -
