Re: CCNP really worth it for me - 2+ years of experience.
If I'm interviewing a candidate that has a professional level certification with no experience it throws up a red flag. Now, the red flag isn't necessarily an automatic disqualifier, but it will make me take note of your lack of experience. The tone of the interview changes from easy going to grilling. Why?? Because all of… -
Re: Have I wasted 2 years of my life?
Thank you guys for the responses, its helped to clear up my head and has given me a new sense of direction. I've accepted that I am not going to be a PM straight out of college, but I am content with trying to forge a career path in IT via certifications. The CAPM has been shelved, potentially forever if I wind up being… -
Taking a chance?
I was browsing the job boards as usual today, I came across a listing that caught my eye, its close to home and its the next step I want to take in my career its for a IT Manager position @ a Healthcare . Plus I know someone that works in the building so I have a possible inside. However I'm doubting myself if I should… -
Which certs brought you real knowledge and which ones are more resume fodder?
The reason I ask is I have several that are classified in both catagories. Ones that I learned a lot from Network + [This answered the questions I was afraid to ask for the fear of sounding stupid] This is a good cert IMO] Security + [No where near as much as Network +, but still captured a lot of tid bit type knowledge.… -
Passed CSSLP 30th Oct 2015
This is my first exam review so do bear with me. Took CSSLP exam today at Pearson. Exam duration is 4 hours and consist of 175 questions. This is my second ISC2 exam, the first was CISSP in end March this year. Finished most of the questions in about an hour, did 3 rounds of review and click submit with about 2 hours… -
Appearing in CISSP-ISEP exam outside DoD (from Pakistan)
This may feel odd considering the grounded nature of the certification but I plan to appear in CISSP-ISEP exam in near future. I have got excellent suggestions from the forum for preparation of the exams. Two things beats me for which I'm looking for answers to help clear the confusion 1. Is there a probable reason for… -
How to transition to IT project management?
I currently work at a start up as the lead over web based projects. This basically covers project management and guidance over design, UX, front-end and some backend development, and server setup/admin for websites and a CRM we are currently developing. I have a team under me, local and outsourced, but I also do a lot of… -
Re: Navy Transition to Civ/Govt
If you're interested in joining the U.S. civilian service, all the jobs go through usajobs.gov. You are eligible to apply for jobs in the USCS up to 120 days prior to separating. The most prevalent duties for a USCS INFOSEC job are in compliance; i.e. - keeping organizations in regulations and passing blue team… -
Re: CCSP - Failed TWICE. I'm done.
Dr. Eric Thomas, the Hip Hop Preacher has a unique perspective on things, I agree with him and @@mbarrett and @@UsualSuspect7 because if it was easy, everyone would be ISC2 CCSP certified. I know the feeling about the vagueness, when I initially sat for the PMI PMP i literally used all 6 hours when I selected my last… -
Re: CEHv8 already?
Thanks Hutch. Man that is one difficult exam, partly because some of the questions are BS. I'd say the All-In-One helped me with about a third of the questions, my knowledge and experience with another third, and I just didn't know the answer to another third but made an educated guess. (WTH is the code for NO-OP? It ain't…
