Ok, well. I guess you talked me out of it. Sorry to waste everyone's time.

Don't get down on this certification. I understand what kMetalFlash was saying about it having no real value in the industry (although I question his sales tactic as he was trying to sell something by saying it has no value.......) however, I don't completely agree anyone who says this certification has no value. In fact it is DEFINITELY worth 50 bucks.

    Pros:
    The certification never expires.
You learn plenty about HIPAA and other elements which will help you in an interview for a job in HealthCare IT
If you DON'T have a CompTIA certification; this is by far the cheapest way to get one.
If you don't have any certification, this is a good one to get your feet wet with.
If you have any desire to understand the process of EMR and dealing with medical records, this gives you a firm background.

No; you rarely see this certification as a requirement for any job. But if you have it, you will definitely have a leg up going into any interview for a medical IT job over someone that doesn't -- And the medical IT field in general is growing as all medical professions are being required slowly to convert and store everything electronically.

Where does say the HIT certification will expire?

Certification is valid for life. Voucher expires on 12/31/14. CompTIA will no longer offer the certification after 12/31/14 of this year.

My winter clean up post. I got a few things that either has been upgraded or just not in use that I need to clear out...

Cisco 3560E PoE with IP Services license - I bought this "broken" but the only thing that was wrong was the mode button not working without opening up the switch. Everything else is working perfect and it comes with rack ears and the switch is in overall great condition. (with the exception of the mode button) - $450 shipped

Cisco 2951 with PoE power supply, Security and Voice license - I also bought this "broken" but the original owner didn't feel like troubleshooting and the only issue with the device was the power supply was bad. I changed it out and everything was good to go. The device is in perfect condition and the only issue is I am unable to remove one rack mount. The device has the Security and UC license. - $800 shipped

SM-ES3G-16-P - Got this a while back when they were going for cheap on eBay, but it has just been sitting in my closet. The module is in perfect condition and has the IP Services license - $350 shipped

*ASA 5510 with Security Plus license - Had this for my security studies but now downgrading to 1 ASA. The firewall is in perfect condition and it includes 1GB RAM, a 256MB CF, a 512MB CF, and the latest software. $500 shipped

*I also debating selling my 1941 with Security License that I was using as my home router. I've moved to Sophos and I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it.

Can take pics and show CLI output on request.
