Whats is the real value provided by SANS?
Hi Everyone, I had in the past OSCP, CEH and CHFI training, all of them with a price range between 1000 $ to 2000 $... I think there are no trainings on the market give us an "expertise" just at the end of it, expertise comes with experience and practice. In my opinion a very good training must teach the underlying…

Passed GCFA without Index - Warning
I'll keep this short and sweet :D I passed the GCFA with a score of 76% without an index, I relied on SANS own provided index in book 5. BIG MISTAKE Create your own index because during the exam I realised that the index provided by SANS doesn't include every keyword...something you might wanna do - specially for keywords…

Fail GCIH
Hi guys, I took two exams and failed both of them. the first score is 67% and the second is 70%. This would be the last time I can take before I can take again (provided I failed again the third time round). I took the practice test and pass with a score of 80%. The practice test and the exam is doesn't seem much related…

Looking at taking another SANS Course
I'm looking at taking FOR572 https://www.sans.org/course/advanced-network-forensics-analysis. Has anyone taken it? How was it? Did you feel like it was worth the money or a rehash of things you already knew? I already have the GSEC and curious about experiences if anyone wants to share. Thanks

SEC440 or SEC566?
Hi, To get up to speed and deeper knowledge of the practical implementing phase I'm looking at SEC440 / 566. I'm not sure which one to do. Passed the GPEN without an index!
Correction… without my own home build index… So I passed my very first GIAC exam, the GPEN yesterday with a satisfying 80% pass, I’m not very good at tests… I like a more hands-on approach so just passing it is fine by me. Well after doing the course the I began looking at the OnDemand material that I was given… and as a…

Self study for GCFA
A friend is letting me borrow his SANS FOR508 books and lectures from when he took the class in 2016. Would it have changed that drastically in the last year and a half to where I'd fail for not taking the class or reading the newest books? Anyone else pass with just the SANS books and lectures?

SANS FOR572 (Network Security, Las Vegas)
I'm here at SANS Network Security taking FOR572 taught by Phil Hagen. He's a very clear and concise instructor and the class rolls along at a good pace. It's a mid-sized class (about 30 people) but it's good stuff. Day One reviewed some basics (for me), but otherwise it looks like it's going to get better as the days go…

Passed GPEN Yesterday!
Took the 560 course in Bethesda last month, and rushed to take the exam before the end of the year. Passed with a 94%, which felt pretty good. Passed GSEC - 1/2/18
My main caveat to this, it seems that open book tests are harder than closed book. I took CISSP roughly 2 months ago and finished within roughly 2.5 hours. Renewals and labs
I challenged GPEN a few years ago, added some CPE's, and decided to just go ahead and pay for the renewal, even though I'm two years from expiration. Which SANS course to take?
I passed my GCIH earlier this year and just passed the CISSP exam. I can budget for one next year. Debating between GCED, GMON, and GCIA. I want to keep getting stronger with blue team stuff. Which would would be a good next step?
