Both IP MAC ? Ports?
I understand that IP addresses are inserted in the NETWORK layer, but some references are made to the MAC address being added at the DATA LINK layer to the stream of bits to be sent from the NIC. As described by the 802.3 standard, are the source & destination address (Preamble, SFD, DA, SA, Len, Data, Pad, FCS) MAC or IP?…

active vs passive hubs
In the SE version of technotes, page 19 states that "An active hub...forwards it to all other ports." Would not the question 47 answers C and D apply only to intelligent hubs, as you further describe on page 19, and not all hubs? Or should I not be so picky about wording on the tests? Thanks C

Passed NET+ Today!
I passed my Net+ exam today with an 873. I never would have known it though during the test, because they threw some odd questions at me. A lot of the questions seemed to be very ambiguous. What are valid data rates for a Token Ring network? AppleTalk protocols?
I'm not sure I've read that anyone here were exposed to AppleTalk protocol questions. AppleTalk is a rather large protocol suite. Was anyone exposed to AARP, DDP, RTMP, AEP, ATP, etc?
