Labs for new upcoming CCNA
Greetings folks! Haven't posted in a long while but great to be back! I just ordered Odoms new CCNA study guide for the new exams but I am wondering if packet tracer will be sufficient for labs. If need be, I could get the old Cisco gear out of the closet (2x 2811, 1x 1841, 3x 2960). 2020 will be the year I get my second…

Port Security Question
I have a question on port security. I understand it is to protect the port from rogue devices plugging into it, but I keep reading and hearing things about frames coming back into the port from other devices tripping port security. So my question is this; if I enable port security on FastEthernet 0/1 with default settings…

CCNA lab home build
I recently acquired a Cisco 3560 PoE 48 port switch, Cisco 1941 router, and Cisco 2900 series router. I haven't gotten into any Cisco devices in several years and was wanting to jump back in. I maybe asking an already answered question but does anyone have any good pointers on where to start. I'll obviously need a console…

just a basic question
If someone admitted in the past to using braindumps to pass a Cisco cert but is now genuinely using real testing materials to study to get re certified, would that person be lambasted, ridiculed and not believed? Thank you

Journey To A CCNA Cert
Hi Everyone, I have been in IT world for just over 5 years, from a server role to now a networks engineer with just over 1.5 years experience. I have now started studying for the CCNA. Currently using CBT Nuggets, Todd Lamme Routing & Switching and Packet Tracer. However as the new certs are coming out in Feb, do you…

What's the correct way to get the subnet mask?
They give me the IP address, number of hosts, and number of subnets. So I've read somewhere that there are two methods: Method A ) Using the number of subnets needed.Method B ) Using the number of hosts needed. Let's see an example: IP is 10.253.113.0/25. We need 8 subnets with 10 hosts each one. Method A ) 3 bits are…

Continuing on....
I just got back after being gone for almost 3 weeks. I am starting to look at the material again and it's amazing that my mind is more clear than before. Subnetting is much clearer and I didn't do any studying while gone. I am hoping to test in about 3 weeks for ICND1 and will immediately move into studying for ICND2. I…

ICND2 studying over lunch at work?
Hey there, Techexams! I'm looking to pick up my CCNA before the February cutoff, but I don't have a lot of time outside of work and school. About a year ago, I took a couple CCNA prep courses at my local community college, so I'm familiar with most of the objectives on the ICND2. My question is: does anyone know of any…

Quick Subnetting - All in your head!
This probably isn't new for most of you guys, but I thought I'd share what my book taught me. It makes subnetting quick and easy to figure out in seconds. No binary needed. Since this is to help you answer questions fast, you should already have a basic understanding in subnetting. Practicing this method will allow you to…

After failing my first attempt at ICND2 by 100 points back in June, I took it again today and failed by 11 points.
