Should I skip GSEC and go right into the more specialized courses?
Hello. Newbie question here. I am a college student, working on my bachelors and masters in computer science, with a concentration in cyber security. I am in the Scholarship for Service Cybercorps program, and I get to take a free certification. Since I am likely getting just the one: Would it be better to take the GSEC,…

GWAPT - Worried about the content
Hi Everyone, I'm sitting here in the SEC542 course right now and I'm on day 4. I was always told that the course books were all you need in order to take the exams and pass them, however, it seems like this course's books are fairly short in the amount of information within the text under the slides. I'm comparing this to…

I'm scheduled to take my GCCC on Friday; I'm a little concerned after finishing up my last practice exam. I've gone through the course material, annotated pages, make a…

GCIH Passed
First SANS cert. Read, read, read, read. Update, update, and update your index. Knowing your index is key. Keep it light worded and to the point. Take your practice test and focus on weak areas. CEH book by Matt Walker actually cross references a lot of stuff on GCIH such as ADS, DDOS, Netcat, Evasion, Recon, Metasploit.…

Question for those who have taken SANS OnDemand courses
Hi, I am looking at the options for taking SANS courses. I am wondering if the mp3 audios that one gets for self-study are the same material as what is in the videos for OnDemand courses? I recently took a Simulcast course which provided recordings of the lectures and the self-study mp3 audio, but they were different…

GAWN passed
Finally got around to sitting the GAWN exam today. It felt very similar in overall feel to the practice exam I took a few days earlier. SANS SEC504 - live training question
Hello! I'm doing SEC504 soon and was wondering how much time is spent hands on using your laptop? What's to stop a 3rd party from offering SANS courses?
SANS instructors and training are top notch, so I get the appeal of going to their events.
