Just missed passing ICND2 by 1 question
I just missed passing my ICND2 exam today by 1 question (24 points) according to the proctor. That really sucks. I have already re-scheduled it for the earliest time I could make work. I will try and brush up on my weak areas and take it again in 2 weeks. I'm most frustrated with the fact that many of the questions and…

Question about subneting
Task : 1. How are you testing connectivity?
I just began building my CCNA lab, and I realized one very important thing: Packet Tracer spoiled me! I recently moved, and had to throw away /…

Why is Frame Relay Non Broadcast
Just curious as to why FR is considered NBMA. If I add the broadcast keyword to my frame relay maps, I have broadcast capability. If I let Inverse ARP do it, broadcast capability also exists by default (broadcast is in the output of show frame-relay map). When using all the defaults in a multipoint set-up, inverse arp…

Why does network warrior state this about equal cost
He's referring to classful routing with RIP. His example is using a discontiguous network and the router in the middle(B) recieves advertisements from A and C for route 10.0.0.0/8. Purpose of Switch Default-Gateway?
Why do we assign a default-gateway to a switch? From what I understand, when a host wants to send to a remote network, the mac-add of router interface is inputed as destination mac-address. Passed........I guess.....
I took this exam a few days ago...and passed...barely. 811/804. This is definately the first time I walked out of the exam room thinking about which topics I needed to dig into deeper for the re-take. I have never failed a cert exam, but was pretty sure I had this time. The proctor just handed me the printout directly from…

Crypto Key Generate Rsa
I know the above is used to generate a encrypted key, but how/when exactly is it used, in terms of communication. I know if I want to SSH into a router which is SSH enabled the key will be used, but I'd like to know the "how this is done" during the data flow between router / ssh client. I don't like to just know how to…

OSPF Process ID need not match. Network Warrior sorta implies otherwise.
In this book, Network Warrior, the author says that you can redistribute routes between the multiple instances of spanning tree. I know that it is NOT a requirement for process IDs to match. Regardless of the PID's configured, all routers still learn all OSPF routes. Why does he say this about redistributing between OSPF…

Special Assistance Requested
Hello, My name is Anthony Ingersoll. I just recently purchased a cisco 2600 router. I had to go into password recovery and such to be able to set it up. I had no problem doing that, but where I am running into some potential issues is this: I plan on setting up Cisco Routers in two locations. The other router that I have…

For those who have taken the exam, did you find that there were difficult questions on topics that were surprising? I've noticed that some people mentioned that there was more IPv6…

Passed ICND1, on to ICND2
First ever post here, been lurking for tips on what to use as study materials etc! So I thought I should share also. I passed with an 864, I thought I could have done much better, but a pass is a pass and I'm stoked. I used the cisco press book (the latest version) and I found that to be almost all I needed tbh, I used…

CCENT expired, 640-816 ICND2 not enough for CCNA?
So, my CCENT has expired. My CCNA is still valid for a few more weeks, and I'm planning on renewing it. Shouldnt be a problem. Question is, however, is it enough to take the 640-816 ICND2 to renew my CCNA, or will I need to do 640-802 CCNA since my CCENT has expired? My guess is that I should have renewed my CCNA with 816…
