And another one bites the dust
I am stoked and drinking a beer to celebrate. I passed the Security+ today with an 803. I used Sybex book and Transcender to study for the exam. I was surprised though. There were somethings on there that I have never seen before. I was a fairly easy test and I am happy that its done. I will be taking the 70-294 soon and…

Yet another "I Passed" topic
Hey guys and gals, Just got back from sitting for the SY0-101 exam. I passed with an 810. Thanks for running a great site. The Technotes were most helpful in studying for this exam. I also used Testout and the CBTNuggets along with the ExamCram2 Book. The Testout was by far the best resource. I thought it covered all of…

Quick strange question
Hello All, Strange question for you: I am currently studying for the SY0-201 and as of right now I am reading up on tunneling protocols. The currently used tunneling protocols are L2TP, PPP, SSH and IPSec (feel free to correct me by the way as I want to know this, not just pass a test). Now here comes my question --…

Lowest possible score...
What is the lowest possible score you could get on a CompTia exam? Is it 100? Meaning if you answer every single question wrong, would you receive a score of 100? Just a thought that crossed my mind while I sit here studying.

A question about Sybex's security+ book.
I recently purchased Sybex's CompTIA security+ study guide (third edition) manual by mike Pastore and Emmett Dulaney. What are your thoughts on this book? I've found it informative, and an easy read so far. Has anyone else read this book? What are your thought on it's accuracy and reliability in preparing you for the test?…

Transcender Tests for SY0-101
The problem I find with Transcender is that the information is not current. It seems to be based on the 2005 version of the test, and not updated for the 2007 version. Never mind the 2008 version, I'm sure Transcender will release an entire new product since the test SKU is different. Is it that just I cannot locate an…

Finally done!
Hey guys, Just took the Security+ this morning. I have to say, even though I studied CBT Nuggets, Syngress Book, FastPass book, Sybex book, and the notes at this forum, that there were a good deal of questions that I was clueless on. I honestly thought that I was going to fail after the first few questions. I ended up with…

There seems to be such a huge amount of information to cover for this exam. I'm having trouble with only a couple of things. New material
Hi there I am currently studing the security + at a local college. They are using the pre Oct 08 version. Any advice…

What are you actually allowed to say about the test?(CompTIA
I know you can't talk about specific questions, etc etc etc. What are you allowed to say? Like suggesting to someone that they should study nouns (on a english test). It's really difficult to determine from CompTIA's policy. It seems like as long as you don't talk about questions, answers, then you are fine. What is…

Bombed first try
I got completely humiliated by this exam with a 610. I studied hard all the material given to me by my mentored learning class - Element K study book, videos by CareerAcademy, and Trancenders. Passed Using Testout and Technotes
I was able to pass only using Testout, Technotes and the study guide on mcmcse.com. I made sure to print out the "fact sheets" on testout, as they contain A LOT of information, including stuff not covered in the lectures. 835! Not great, but not too bad either ;) I am set as an MCSE 2003: Security. It was a long hard road,…

password length?
Hello all - Could someone please tell me the optimal password length needed? In the Sybex book it states 10 characters, but in another quiz I was taking it said 8 (10 was an option, but it marked it wrong). I looked at the tech notes but it did not state a recommended length. Thanks again!

Passed Today
Just got back from taking and passing the test. I was a little surprised at how confusing and out in the weeds some of the questions were.
