I contemplated last year going CCNA>CCNA Sec>CCNP Security, now that they've changed the tracks my initial thoughts were to still follow that same path but to just do CCENT. Hi, I am looking to expand my knowledge on networking. At this point I am not planning on getting certified since my primary job responsibility is in infosec/forensics, not network admin. OFFICIAL cert guide CCENT Study guide questions (MAC Addresses)
So I'm reading through his book, very detailed and so far easy to understand, however I noticed he doesn't explain WHY we need certain things just like they're there For example, why do we need a MAC Address when using DNS? Shouldn't we just need IP address, or does having a MAC address help verify it is who it says it is?

CCNA DC out of the way!
