New IT job: Is this normal?
I just got my first non-contract IT job at medium sized company. I was thrilled to get it. What's funny is what I'm actually doing at the job is just testing stuff. Lots of testing, imagining, boxing and unboxing and inventory. My pay is a dollar or 2 low but I'm just surprised I'm getting paid as much am I to do this.…

Anyone go for the gold and request more than the usual 2-3% yearly increase?
If so, how did it work out for you? All the others on our team (5 members) accepted the 2% raise without question. I was the only one to ask for higher, (5%), was denied but felt I had a strong case for it. It was worth it imo.

Six figures accomplished... sort of
I switched jobs last year, and am currently doing my 2015 taxes. So when I added the two W2s together, I made over 100k. Barely, only like 300 dollars over it, but technically I made over a 100k last year. It is not quite as sweet, since my old job had a lot of OT, callout pay, and bonuses and that had bumped me over the…

The current state of IT today
