Conflicting information on STP's Designated Port election.
What is the first criteria for selecting a Designated Port in a segment? Many sources including practice guides tell me that the first criteria is lower BID between the two switches. Switch with lower BID becomes the DP. However, ICND2's Press guide (Wendell Odom) says it is the Root Port cost (switch with the lowest Root…

Do I need a real lab for CCENT? Or just use packet tracer?
Hey guys, The reason why I'm asking is because my rooms pretty small. Sadly, I just don't have the room... although if its really NEEDED, I can attempt to make the room. Maybe put it under my desk or something like that. My plan was to get 1-2 routers and 1-2 switches. I WISH I could room for a server :/

RSTP question for the Gurus
Theory tells me that RSTP is cool because it only takes three hellos for convergence. But if my network is all RSTP, AND I run the sh sp command it tells me that Max Age is still at 20 seconds which is 10 hellos. I would think Max Age should be at six seconds. Where did I go wrong? Thanks

I got the Cisco CCNA RS 200-120 Official Cert Guide Library.
Hi guys I got today the box that comes with the books and CD from Odom at Barnes & Nobles while I was on vacation. What else should I get to go with it? Question in the book that confuses me
Is there something wrong with this question in the book that I'm reading? Shouldn't the ACK 2 be an ACK 4 because it got segments 1, 2 and 3 already, asking for number 4? It asks for segment 5 because 5 was lost, and once 5 comes in it asks for segment 7.

ICND2 - Seems easier for me than ICND1?
I feel like I am crazy or something. The material comes to me a lot easier than ICND1. I think it may be because it is actually a lot more interesting to me. I've pretty much finished all the ICND2 videos on CBTNuggets. I've been labbing in my home lab like crazy and have breezed through STP, EIGRP, OSPF multi area, FHRPs,…
