Would Network+ be a good choice for me instead of CCENT
I have been in the IT field since about 1999, I started with Nortel Telecom programming and worked as a Telecom tech mostly for about 9 years or so, then I worked at a help desk which I did some Telecom Programming and other help desk stuff. Need n+ experts for upcoming exam....
Hi, My name is Sean and I'm relatively new to this site. I've been on here taking practice exams and reading the forums for about 6 months now. This site seems to have the best resources of experts and practice exams. I'm looking for anybody who recently passed the N10-004 and/or N10-1005 in the past year. I passed the A+…

New guys here, Network +/ career questions
Hello all, I have browsed these forums before a lot of good info and people. Unfortunately with the way the economy has been, I have been out of work for 3 months, so I figured I would take this time to work on my long over due certifications. I currently hold a A+ (which I just received) I am currently working on my…

Do you need lab or Simulator for Network+
I have Packet Tracer but I was wondering if I really need to work on hands on stuff for this exam. I was going for CCENT but I may do Network+ first to get a better foundation. Been in I.T. since 1999 doing everything from Nortel Telecom programming to some help desk/Tech Support Monitoring roles. Thanks guys:)

Apple Networking on Network+
New guy here, just about ready to take my cert and had a quick question. The N10-005 objectives doesn't seem to list anything related to Apple and my course material (which I'm not crazy about, caveat emptor) only gives it a very brief overview. Am I safe in assuming its no longer a part of the test like previous versions…

Mike Meyers AIO as a primary study resource
So I picked up the AIO by Mike Meyers and have been really enjoying it. Though Im usually annoyed with large books I dont have that problem with Mikes. I was in class and my teacher said the book would not serve me very well for my studies. This has kind of turned me off to reading it. I was enjoying it and felt it was…

Test Day Expectations
Hi All, I just scheduled my Net+ Exam for April 1. Can anyone enlighten me as to what to expect on test day? Do I get a whiteboard to write anything down? Can you skip a question and return to it? How is the exam scored? I assume it's best to guess instead of leaving a question blank. This is my first attempt at technical…

N+ Exam question: is A+ needed?
Hello, I'm a IT Manager for a large 800 user company with extensive use of 2008 R2. I normally do System administration work (AD, DHCP, DNS, TS land, network design and switch/router installation, yadda yadda yadda you get the picture...) and the normal (jack-of-all-trade) work load during a usual day. I'm a one-man IT…

Should I bother with Net+ if I am going to Security Route?
Hello everyone. So is it really worth the effort to get Network+ if I am going to Security? I recently just passed Sec+ and would like to either A. Another pass!
789 out of 900. I used: Exam Cram, Lammle's book and Darril's practice questions. There were 4 simulations. I totally blew one of them, and another made no sense -- I might've blown it too. Oddly enough, after the 4 simulations were ever, I had only 80 questions left, which means they these simulations weigh more!

Exam Pass
Last week I passed the Network+ and I wanted to share some of my experiences that may help others in their studies. My exam began with 3 simulations and was followed by 80 multiple choice questions. For studying I used the CompTIA Network+ N10-005 Authorized Exam Cram and the practice exams that came with it. In order to…

Will there ever be an accurate study guide
I was reading Todd Lammle network+ deluxe guide and looking at ports and numbers and it says NTP is TCP 123 and says DHCP is TCP 67,68. Then I look at DHCP RFC and see its UDP 67,68 and NTP RFC is UDP 123. Do the editors ever review this for accuracy? It's annoying spending 50 bucks for a book and find errors like this. Am…

Questions on network engineering! (studying for Network+)
Alright, time to ask you all some questions! Passed on Monday with a 798/900 score. Honestly thought I'd failed so was very surprised when it flashed up 'CONGRATULATIONS'. Mission Accomplished
I passed the net+ today! I used Meyers book, videos to review larger concepts, and random practice tests. The test was trickier than I expected but I did well.
